Wedding Ceremony Guitar

The part of the day that stays with you

Of all the moments in a wedding day, the ceremony is the one most couples say they want to get exactly right. It's the moment everything has been leading to, and the music you choose for it will stay with you for the rest of your life.

As a wedding ceremony guitarist based in Worcestershire, I've played for hundreds of couples walking down the aisle, signing the register, and leaving as husband and wife. I know how much those moments matter, and I take the music for each one seriously.

Whether you want a particular song you've always loved, something that means something specific to the two of you, or simply warm, beautiful acoustic music that fits the mood, I'll make sure it's right. I'll learn songs specially if needed, and I always invite couples to come and sit down with me before the day to go through everything properly.

What I cover

Every part of your ceremony, covered

A wedding ceremony typically has four distinct musical moments. I cover all of them, each one chosen and prepared with care so that the music feels right for what's happening, not just playing in the background.

01

Guests Arriving

As your guests take their seats before the ceremony begins, I play softly in the background, setting a warm, calm atmosphere and signalling that something special is about to happen.

02

The Entrance

The most important song of the day. I'll play you, or your bride, down the aisle with exactly the song you've chosen, timed and arranged to fit the length of your walk perfectly.

03

Signing the Register

A quieter moment in the ceremony that benefits from gentle, unhurried music. I'll play something fitting while you sign, keeping the atmosphere calm and the room comfortable.

04

The Exit

As you leave together as a married couple, the music should feel celebratory and joyful. I'll play something uplifting that sends you out to your guests in exactly the right spirit.

Song choices

Getting your ceremony songs right

Choosing songs for your ceremony is one of the things couples find hardest, and one of the things I enjoy helping with most. There's no right or wrong answer, but there are some practical things worth knowing before you decide.

I have an extensive set list covering everything from classic Beatles and Elton John through to modern artists like Ed Sheeran, Harry Styles and beyond. If a song is already on my list, it's ready to go. If it's not, I'll learn it, and I do this for most of the weddings I play.

One thing I always discuss with couples is how a song translates to acoustic guitar, and whether it suits the moment. Some songs take a while to reach the part people recognise, which can be an issue if your aisle walk is short. I'll always be honest about what works and what might need adjusting, and I can adapt arrangements to make sure the song lands at exactly the right moment.

I always invite couples to come over before the wedding so we can sit down together, listen through the options, and settle on something that feels genuinely right, not just chosen from a list.

How I work with you

Before the day, and on it

Once you've booked, we'll stay in touch as your wedding approaches. When the time is right, I'll invite you over to go through everything in person. We'll listen to song ideas, talk through the order of the ceremony, and make sure you leave feeling completely settled about the music.

On the day itself, I arrive around an hour and a half before the ceremony starts. I set up quietly, check the sound levels, and make sure everything is ready well before your first guests arrive. I'm used to working alongside registrars, celebrants, and venue coordinators, I know when to play, when to hold, and how to follow the natural rhythm of a ceremony without needing to be directed.

You won't need to think about the music on your wedding day. That part is taken care of.

Where I play

Wedding ceremony guitar across Worcestershire & beyond

I'm based in Worcestershire and available for wedding ceremonies across the West Midlands and surrounding counties. I regularly play at venues in Warwickshire, Herefordshire, Gloucestershire, and Shropshire, as well as across Birmingham and Solihull.

I know many of the region's most popular venues personally, their layouts, acoustics, and the registrars and coordinators who work there. That familiarity means the ceremony runs smoothly and the music is always in the right place at the right time.

Venues I know well

Including Curradine Barns, Crumplebury, Hogarths Stone Manor, Grafton Manor, Nailcote Hall, Arley House & Gardens, Gorcott Hall, Blackwell Grange, Clearwell Castle and Ettington Park Hotel, as well as many others across the region. Don't see your venue? Chances are I've played nearby. Get in touch and I'll confirm.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can I choose my own songs for the ceremony?
Absolutely, and I'd encourage it. Your entrance song in particular should mean something to you, not just be something from a standard list. I have an extensive set list already, but I regularly learn songs specially for ceremonies. If there's something specific you want, tell me and we'll talk through whether it works on acoustic guitar and how best to arrange it for your aisle walk.
Do you play during the whole ceremony or just the entrance?
I cover all four musical moments: guests arriving, your entrance, the register signing, and your exit. Each one has a different mood and I'll choose and prepare music accordingly. If your ceremony has a different structure, for example a humanist ceremony with additional readings, just let me know and we can plan around it.
What if my aisle is very short, will the song still work?
This is something I always discuss with couples during our song planning meeting. Some songs take time to build to the recognisable part, which can be a problem on a short aisle walk. I can adapt arrangements so that the hook or chorus lands at the right moment, or suggest alternatives that work better for the space. It's one of the practical things that's worth thinking about early.
Do you work with registrars and celebrants?
Yes, and I'm used to it. I've worked alongside many of the registrars and celebrants who cover Worcestershire and the surrounding counties, often multiple times. I know when to start, when to stop, and how to read the room during a ceremony. You won't need to coordinate anything between us on the day, that's my job.
Can you also play for the drinks reception after the ceremony?
Yes, and it's a popular combination. Booking the ceremony and drinks reception together means the live music flows continuously from your guests arriving right through to the wedding breakfast. You can find out more about what I offer for the drinks reception here.
How much does a wedding ceremony guitarist cost?
Pricing depends on which parts of the day you're booking and where your venue is. Full details are on the pricing page, or feel free to get in touch directly and I'll give you a straightforward answer.
