Wedding Breakfast Guitar

Live music that lets your wedding breakfast breathe

The wedding breakfast is one of the most relaxed and unhurried parts of the day, and as a wedding breakfast guitarist, that's exactly what I love about playing it. The ceremony is done, the drinks have been enjoyed, and your guests are finally sitting down together to eat and talk properly. The mood is warm, settled, and convivial. Live acoustic guitar suits it perfectly.

I play gently in the background throughout your meal, recognisable, enjoyable music at a level that lets conversation flow easily across every table. It fills the room with something alive without ever competing with the occasion itself. Guests notice it, appreciate it, and often comment on it, but it never gets in the way.

Based in Worcestershire, I've played at wedding breakfasts across the West Midlands and surrounding counties for around 20 years. I know how the rhythm of a wedding meal works, when to read the room, and how to keep the music feeling right from the first course through to the speeches.

Why it works

What a wedding breakfast guitarist brings to the room

A wedding breakfast can last two hours or more. Live acoustic guitar keeps the atmosphere alive throughout, here's what it adds that a playlist simply can't replicate.

01

Atmosphere That Lasts

A playlist can feel like furniture after a while. Live music stays present and interesting, guests remain aware of it, enjoy it, and it keeps the mood warm and engaged throughout a long meal.

02

Perfectly Pitched Volume

The wedding breakfast needs music at exactly the right level, present enough to fill the room, quiet enough for guests on opposite sides of a table to talk easily. Getting that balance right takes experience.

03

Music People Actually Enjoy

I play songs people know and like, not background filler. When a guest hears a favourite song played live across the room during their meal, it becomes a moment they remember from the day.

04

Requests Welcome

During a wedding breakfast I often get requests from guests, a song that means something to someone at a particular table. If I know it, I'll play it. That kind of interaction makes the music feel genuinely personal.

"Great song choices, Stuart creates a perfect atmosphere. The guests for the wedding thought he made the day extra special."— Kayleigh Tipper

How I work

Reading the room during a wedding meal

A wedding breakfast isn't a static event. Courses come and go, speeches happen, toasts are made, and the energy in the room shifts throughout. I'm used to all of it, knowing when to play softly under a quiet moment, when to lift the tempo a little as the room warms up, and when to hold back entirely so a speech can land properly.

I set up before guests are seated and play continuously through the meal, finishing naturally when the wedding breakfast comes to a close and the evening gets underway. Everything is coordinated in advance so you don't need to think about it on the day.

I'm also used to working alongside venue coordinators and catering staff, I know the cues that matter, and I fit around the practical flow of a wedding meal without needing to be directed.

A reason to book the breakfast

The part of the day you actually sit down for

One thing couples sometimes realise too late: if you only book a guitarist for the ceremony and drinks reception, you spend the drinks reception away having photographs, and then the live music stops just as you sit down to enjoy your meal.

Booking a wedding breakfast guitarist means the live music is still playing when you're finally seated with your guests, relaxed and present. It's often the combination that couples say they're most glad they chose, because it's the part of the day where you actually get to sit and enjoy it.

Many couples book the drinks reception and wedding breakfast together, or all three parts of the day. If you'd like to talk through what would work best, I'm always happy to help think it through.

Wedding breakfast guitar across Worcestershire & the region

I'm based in Worcestershire and available as a wedding breakfast guitarist across the West Midlands and surrounding counties, including Warwickshire, Herefordshire, Gloucestershire, Shropshire, and into Birmingham and Solihull.

I know many of the region's most popular wedding venues personally, including their dining rooms and how they work acoustically. That familiarity means the sound is always right for the space, and the setup is done without fuss well before your guests sit down.

Including Curradine Barns, Crumplebury, Hogarths Stone Manor, Grafton Manor, Nailcote Hall, Arley House & Gardens, Gorcott Hall, Blackwell Grange, Clearwell Castle and Ettington Park Hotel. Don't see your venue? I cover a wide area, get in touch and I'll confirm.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

How long do you play during the wedding breakfast?
I play for the full duration of your wedding breakfast, typically around two hours, though this varies depending on your schedule. I'll work around your timeline, including pausing naturally for speeches and toasts, and finishing when the meal comes to a close.
Do you stop playing during the speeches?
Yes, I always pause during speeches and toasts. It's an important part of reading the room well. I know the cues to watch for and will stop playing naturally so the speeches have the full attention they deserve, then pick back up again afterwards.
What kind of music do you play during a wedding breakfast?
Warm, relaxed acoustic music, a mix of songs people know and enjoy, from classic artists like the Beatles and Elton John through to more contemporary choices. The pace and mood of the music shifts gently through the meal to match the atmosphere in the room. I also take requests from guests during the breakfast if I know the song.
Is the music too loud for table conversation?
No. Getting the volume right for a wedding breakfast is something I'm very deliberate about, it needs to be clearly present and enjoyable without making guests raise their voices to talk across a table. I set the levels carefully before guests are seated and adjust if needed throughout.
Can I book just the wedding breakfast without the drinks reception?
Yes, absolutely. Some couples prefer to keep things simple or have other entertainment during drinks. Booking me for the wedding breakfast alone is perfectly straightforward. That said, the drinks reception and breakfast together is a popular combination, you can find out more about the options on the wedding guitarist page.
How much does a wedding breakfast guitarist cost?
Pricing depends on which parts of the day you're booking and your venue location. Full details are on the pricing page, or get in touch directly and I'll give you a straightforward answer.
