A barn wedding venue combining rustic character with modern comfort, near Bromsgrove.
Blackwell Grange is a popular barn venue near Bromsgrove that combines rustic character, exposed brickwork, timber beams, flagstone floors, with modern facilities and a well-organised events team.
Set in countryside near Bromsgrove, Blackwell Grange offers the warmth and texture of a traditional barn setting alongside the convenience and reliability of a well-run dedicated wedding venue. The ceremony barn has a character that guests respond to immediately, the kind of space that feels celebratory before the service has even begun. The outdoor terrace is a natural gathering point for drinks, and the wedding breakfast space has the comfortable scale that a good barn wedding calls for.
I cover every part of the day at Blackwell Grange, here is how the music works across the different spaces.
The ceremony barn at Blackwell Grange has exposed brickwork, timber beams, and flagstone floors that give it a natural acoustic warmth. I set up to one side of the space and the sound fills the barn comfortably, the texture of the materials absorbs sound in a way that suits fingerstyle guitar very naturally.
The terrace at Blackwell Grange is the natural gathering point for drinks after the ceremony. I bring outdoor-rated equipment and set up in the terrace area so the music reaches wherever guests are gathered, including any areas the photographer takes you to.
The barn transitions naturally from ceremony into wedding breakfast. I know the acoustic characteristics of the space and position my speaker to give every table a comfortable, even level of background music throughout the meal, present and enjoyable without ever competing with conversation.
Most couples at Blackwell Grange choose one of three options, but I am always happy to discuss combinations that suit your day best.
I play as your guests arrive and take their seats, through your entrance, the signing of the register, and your exit, then move to the drinks area and continue through your guests' celebrations. The most popular combination.
Ceremony musicA great option if you want a specific recorded song for the ceremony. I take over from the drinks reception onwards, meaning you get to be present and enjoy the live music alongside your guests.
Drinks receptionFull day coverage, live acoustic guitar from the moment your guests arrive right through to the end of the wedding breakfast. I would discuss timings and transitions with you in advance so everything is planned and nothing left to chance.
Full day optionsWhichever option you choose, I always invite you to come and sit down with me beforehand to go through your song choices. I am very happy to learn songs not already on my set list, and if anything doesn't translate well to guitar, I'll tell you honestly, and we will find something that does.
Barn venues suit acoustic guitar in a way that few other settings do. The exposed timber, the brickwork, and the flagstone floors absorb sound naturally, there are no harsh reflections or uncomfortable resonances, just a warm, even acoustic that the guitar can sit comfortably in. The music fills the room with something alive without ever feeling too much. It's one of the reasons barn venues are among my favourite settings to play.
If you are planning your wedding at Blackwell Grange and would like to talk about live music, I would love to hear from you. There is no obligation and no pressure, just a conversation about what you are imagining for your day.
